The Inner Beauty Bible Study calls us to a deeper relationship with God as we pursue the traits of inner beauty found in the Bible. We will follow a similar format throughout each of the Bible studies. Each study has eight chapters. The chapter format that is followed throughout each study contain these points:
MEMORY VERSE
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalms 119:11, NIV). The way in which we hide God’s Word in our hearts is through memorization. When we memorize scriptures, God reveals the deeper truths needed to live each day. It is then that we have them ready and available for us when trials arise. The Holy Spirit will bring them back to our remembrance when we need God’s Word to guide and direct our steps.
WHAT’S IN A WORD?
This section will introduce key terms in the chapter to provide a foundation for studying God’s Word and applying it to our everyday lives. The definitions of the words will produce an understanding as one goes forward in the study.
HIDDEN GEMS
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path”(Psalms 119:105, NIV). The Word of God is our main reference tool – one in which we should go to first for guidance. It is living and active (Hebrews 4:12). We can dig deep into His Word for understanding. As we soak in the wisdom of God found in the pages of His Word, we know His perfect will for us and the strength to overcome the obstacles of life in His strength instead of our own.
YOUR HEART’S DESIRE
“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart”(Psalms 37:4, NIV). It is now time for you to reflect on the passages from the Word of God you just studied. A personal reflection allows the scriptures to be applied to your everyday life. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). As we apply the truth of God’s Word to our everyday lives, inner beauty becomes a reality in our lives.
PRAYER
“If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer”(Matthew 21:22, NIV). To solidify the teaching in each chapter of the Bible studies, it must be wrapped in prayer. God hears our prayers and desires to change us little by little from glory to glory. We can pray about the lesson’s topic and give the results of the teaching to Him in prayer. In this way, God helps deepen our understanding of the topic.
NUGGETS OF WISDOM
“For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding”(Proverbs 2:6, NIV). As we bring together the Word of God with personal application, we can then reflect upon what we have learned in the lesson. This leads to wisdom which comes from the Lord. This section will have quotes from various people on the topic which was studied in the lesson. This allows all the wisdom to soak deep within our spirits to gain knowledge and understanding.
Each study solidifies the truth found in God’s Word about that particular trait of inner beauty. As we progress through the studies, we can reflect upon how God is using each individual study to help us grow and mature in our Christian walk.
